Femininity
Femininity
When I was a young adult and teenager, I used to distance myself from femininity because I perceived it as something soft and pink, dresses and girls (Although none of these are negative things but to me they were). I preferred to have an androgynous appearance and did not feel comfortable looking more feminine. I rarely wore dresses and avoided wearing any bright colours. However, over time, my perspective gradually changed, and I started to find joy in my softness and being a woman. I discovered how to connect with nature and the world around me through my femininity, which has been a challenging but enriching experience. This transformation has grown since I started therapy in 2019, embarking on a journey of self-acceptance, healing, and self-care. This piece reminds me a little bit of one of Fridah Khalo’s paintings “Self Portrait with Thron Necklace and Hummingbird’.
